A Cogging Torque Minimization Procedure for Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors Based on a Progressive Modification of the Rotor Lamination Geometry

This article describes a simple cogging torque minimization procedure for interior permanent magnet synchronous machines (IPMSMs), consisting of progressive modification the rotor lamination geometry. can be generalized main topologies PMSM, independently number stator slots or location magnets. For this purpose, basic IPMSM structure is analyzed by means FEM (finite element method) approach, and then, several other geometries, obtained adequately modifying geometry model without changing its configuration, are proposed discussed. The trends generated each computed compared. From comparison, it demonstrated that, simply acting on shape choosing optimized pattern, components theoretically canceled.
